Disappearing Sun

This morning the beautiful golden sun was filling the living room with bright light. However, as I was looking across the valley I could see a huge shield of cloud looming and overtaking the sun's warmth. I thought this shot was a good depiction of what winter is as it overtakes Alaska and closes us off from light and warmth for a few months. The impending doom for some or perhaps the serene solitude for others. I feel like I want to escape through that last little strip of sunlight before we're closed off completely. For me...I need to find ways to enjoy that solitude. With two little ones to challenge my day, there is definitely sunshine emanating joy and love from them. I hope to share a bit more of that happiness as well as I can by capturing them in images. Happy Winter everyone!

I love the sunset pictures from Alaska - I miss seeing them from the house on the hill. Thanks for the pictures - they made me smile! :)

it looks like a star wars picture where you want to maneuver your pod through that slit in the sky before it closes up!

Oh wow, I love these pictures, they're beautiful! It's a little weird to think you guys are already in winter, we're just getting into fall weather down here. I don't know how you do it up there in the winter with little ones and the darkness and everything; that would be really hard for me. You're amazing and I love that your posting so many pictures lately. And thanks so much for sharing your talents with us, I love seeing your pictures. I think you're awesome and I love ya!

I am so impressed with your talent ~ you are an amazing woman Amanda. The photos are great, they capture the view we all know and love. And your commentary is beautiful mostly because it's so honest. There are times in life that are more challenging than others and during those times we have to look a little harder for the sunshine in our days. Having little ones at home is a challenge ~ it's a tremendous blessing to have those wonderful spirits in your home and for you to be able to be home with them, but that doesn't discount the challenge we women especially face. But being the amazing woman you are Amanda ~ you'll persevere and most likely come out all the better, stronger woman for it. I love you. You are a great mama.
